Volumetry in architectural panel is often created by a depth variation within the panel or an adjacent panel. This feature makes it possible to create particular volumes and shades on the facade of a building. Any type of volumetry is considered custom-made and is treated in a unique way for each project.

Volumetry is not possible with all systems and is generally much easier to perform with FUTURA aluminum composite systems.

Aluminum composite is a light and malleable material, it bends by hand when “grooved”. While the DURALUM aluminum systems are more rigid and must be bent with the machinery, which creates certain restrictions.

There are endless possibilities of shape and volume that can be achieved with aluminum panels. It is similar to origami. If it is possible to make the shape with a sheet of paper, it will probably be possible to do it with aluminum or aluminum composite.

Here are some concepts to help you familiarize with the possibilities.

Ideally, in order to facilitate the installation of the siding, it is preferable to install the volume on a flat surface. This will be called the “Base” of the volume.

The base of a panel can have different shapes. The most common is a rectangular base, but it is also possible to have a triangular, trapezoidal or other base.

From the base shape, the volume will then be created. The tops points of the panel can be positioned at different places and at different depth in order to create the desired volume.
